The Quay Brothers
The Quay Brothers (Steven and Timothy) are identical twins who were born in 1947 in
Pennsylvania. In the 1970s they started to make short animated films at the Royal College of Art and have stayed in London since to make their unique and innovative films with Koninck Studios.

To make the Quay's film instantly recognizable and unique, they display a huge amount of colour and texture, focus and movement of camera and passion for detail in each of their films. The masters of miniaturization that have created an unforgettable world on their tiny sets, are two of the worlds most original and unique film makers.

Their most famous film is the "Street of Crocodiles" (1986) is regarded as in the top 10 best animated films of all time by Terry Gilliam. They made their first foray into live action film making in 1994 with Institute Benjamenta. In 2000, they made two dance films, "Duet" and "The Sandman", as well as an award winning collaboration with Karlheinz Stockhausen. Then in 2003, the brothers created four short films for a live event at the Tate Mordern and in 2005, showed their second film "The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes" at the Locarno film festival. Then, last year in New York, the Quay brothers were honored with a career retrospective gallery exhibition at the museum of modern art.
